My Top 5 Foundations

Over the next few weeks I am going to be rounding up my 'top 5' of beauty products. Today we are starting with foundations, well there may be a few BB creams or tinted moisturizers in there to. Sorry. Ok so before I start I just want to point out that these foundations will not work for everyone and they are what I love for my skin and taste. I have dry to normal skin that get a little more oily in the summer. I am also warm toned. The majority of  these foundations will work best for that skin type but in each description I will tell you exactly what skin types and tones it will work on best. I hope you enjoy and I would love to hear some of your foundation suggestion below!

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation- I have written a full review of this beautiful foundation HERE so go and give that a read if you are interested. This is my daily foundation, if it is a day where I want little more coverage that just a tinted moisturizer then I tend to always go for this. It has some great skincare benefits and has a nice glowy finish without being to dewy or wet looking. I would say this would work for dry to combination skin types. If you are extremely dry there will be no need to for powder and if you are a little oily in the t-zone then just a dusting will prevent you looking shiny. I think this foundation could have a little to much glow for oily skin. It comes in 10 shades in a variety of undertones but they seem to be mainly warm toned, I wear shade '2 Fair' and it comes in at $45.

Mix It Up Monday- Office/Study Tour

Hello you! How are you today? As my 'Mix It Up Monday' posts seem to be going well I am going to be continuing with them once a month, the last Monday of each month to be precise. In case you don't already know the mantra of 'Mix It Up Monday' (we need to shorten this, #MIUM?) is to talk about something non beauty related, just for a change. So today I am going to be sharing with you the room where work happens, or as normal people call it. My office. I am very lucky in the fact that we have a spare bedroom that is attached to my bedroom that doubles up as my office. Just a quick disclaimer I do not wish to show off, I just wanted to share some bits and bobs I have picked up to decorate and also I love reading these (what can I say, I'm nosy) so I hope you will enjoy this.

Ok so firstly let me explain what I do in this room. Really this is probably self explanatory but I'm going to say anyway. So if you have ever read my 'About Me' page then you will know I do not go to school I am self taught at home. I do online schooling through the American School, so all my work is done in here. My class room you may say. Also the majority of my blog post get written at this desk, unless I am lazy then they get written in bed. Oh I love my bed...
I have finally got the room to look like how I wanted it to, with a few exceptions so I am super excited to share it with you!

The Best of The Week #1

For a while now I have wanted to start posting a day on the weekend. I am so busy with school that sometimes three posts a week can be a push but I realize the weekend is when most people have their free time so I really want to post. So I have decided to start a 'weekly round up' sort of post. Now just a quick note, these post may not be every Saturday due to my life being pretty boring; I mean come on who wants to read 'This week I learnt about molecular structures and wrote blog posts'? But I will be posting when I have something semi-interesting to write about. These posts are going to be a mix of weekly favorites and snippets of things I have done with my week. So I hope you enjoy and I would appreciate any feedback you have, and with that let's begin.

The Age of Adaline- Me and my sister went and saw this yesterday morning. We went to the morning showing so there were only 3 other people in the cinema, which can I just say it feels pretty cool being in a empty cinema. The trailer of this film got me crying so I just new I needed to see as soon as it was out.

Why Rosehip Oil Is a Miracle & Giveaway!

Happy Friday everyone, it's finally time for the weekend! This week has dragged for me but I finally I got a lot of done so that's a good thing. Today I am going to be reviewing Leven Rose's Rosehip Oil. A lot of you may know that I am a huge oil fan, I have incredibly dry skin so anything that is going to boost hydration I want to be best friends with it. I got in contact with Leven Rose and they very kindly sent me a bottle of their new Rosehip Oil to try out. Now I need to add before I begin that my skin has been a mess in recent weeks, I have had some weird rash, dry patches, add some serious redness. Ok so now we have all that out of the way let's get onto the review.

Firstly lets talk a little more about the oil, here I am going to guide you to the Leven Rose website (LevenRose.com) so you can read into all their details about it. Here I am just going to go over it briefly. Leven Rose's Rosehip oil is firstly 100% organic which is amazing, and secondly it is cold pressed which means the oil stays in its purest form. Rosehip oil is a 'dry oil' which means that it has a very lightweight and non-oily feel, it also means that it soaks into the skin very quickly. This makes Rosehip oil a great oil for dehydrated and oily skins alike. Some great benefits of using Rosehip oil are, healing the skin, diminishing fine line and wrinkles, and evening skin tone.

I began by using four drops of Rosehip oil in the evening before bed. I found that to get a nice covering over my face I needed more then four drops. For me it feels very different to other oils I have tried, you can defiantly tell that it is a 'dry oil'. So I decided to do a little experimenting. They best way I have now found to use it is mixed in with my moisturizer, this way it just adds a little more slick and makes it easier to apply. For my dry skin I have been using three drops at night and one in the morning. Within a few days my large dry patches were gone, I still was dry but all flakiness was diminished. I have now been using this for a around two weeks and my skin is loving it! I am now getting back to have hydrated lovely skin again (praise hands emoji). Another great way I have found to use it as a eye serum, I apply half a drop under each eye before bed and come morning they are hydrated and my dark circles have defiantly brightened. It's safe to say I will be keeping this oil in my skincare routine for a long time to come. When I say it has changed my skin's life I'm not even kidding. This time three weeks ago I was ready to go and spend hundreds at a dermatologist to get my skin sorted, so thank you Leven Rose for saving me and my skin.

Now onto the fun part of this post. When I love a product I want you guys to try it and love it to, so I have teamed up with Leven Rose to give away a bottle of this amazing Rosehip oil. I am telling you know you need to try this stuff! Make sure you enter below! Also make sure you head on over to LevenRose.com to check out their Rosehip and other oils! Love...

Fresh Spring Makeup Look

I haven't done a makeup look in a little while so today I thought I would share with you the makeup I have been wearing a lot lately. It's fresh, natural, light, and perfect for spring with the subtle hints of pink. It is perfect as a 'no makeup, makeup look' and is easy to wear every day. I use quite a sheer base but if you're not a fan of that then go for a more full coverage option, but remember even if you a sheer base concealer can hide a multitude of blemishes and discoloration.

I haven't been using a primer lately because I have been putting on a ton of moisturizer before a base so I go straight in with the Bobbi Brown BB cream. I have been loving this because it has a SPF 35
built in so I don't have to worry about my skin out in the sun. I then conceal any blemishes, redness, and under eye circles with my favorite concealer, Estee Lauder's double wear. I love this concealer, its light and not cakey but has an amazing coverage to it. With this base I don't really need to set it with powder so I just set the concealer under my eyes with some bareMinerals well rested. Now I am keeping this look simple but my face looks like a football it I don't do a little bit of contouring, so I am going in with a little Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder in the hollows of my cheeks and sculpting my nose a little. Then I'm adding just a little of Nars laguna bronzer to warm up my complexion. I picked up this limited edition blush by Tarte last week and I am in love with it, the color is a beautiful neutral and goes with any makeup look. I add just a little to the apples of my cheeks. After that I take some MAC soft and gentle on the high points of my face for a little bit of glow. On the eyes I have gone really simple and just taken Hanky Panky by Colourpop, which is a beige slightly darker than my skin, all over the lid. To finish of the eyes I have used a thin coating of Makeup Forever smokey lash mascara. Lastly for the lips I have gone for a sheer pinky nude, this one by Marc Jacobs in the shade have we met? is beautiful and perfect for a simple daytime look.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my spring go to makeup. What are your favorite products for spring? Let me know down in the comments! Also make sure you follow me on twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest for all my latest news, the links can be found in the side bar along with the corresponding icon. Colourpop Lippe Stix

Colourpop Cosmetics had me interested for quite a while and finally a few weeks ago I placed an order. I purchased five Lippie Stix which I will be sharing with you today and four of their super shock shadows (side note, if you would like a post on them too then let me know). All of their products are super affordable with Lippie Stix and Shadows coming in at $5 each and their Blushes at $8. Their blushes and shadows have a really interesting unique texture, but I wont talk about that now as we are focusing on the Lippie Stix's. The Lippie Stix's come in a bunch of different colours (another side note, does anyone notice I go between English and American spelling all the time. Ooooppps) and formulas. I got three different formulas, Hyper Glossy, Matte and Satin but they do a few other finishes also. I also have to mention picking colours on line can be a little tricky a couple I have here are very similar but good nonetheless. Another thing just to point out is the shade 'Westie' while it looks beautiful on the lips in person, it didn't photograph so well, I think the issue may be that its matte and quite pale so my camera wouldn't focus on my lips. Also just to point out although yes they are affordable the amount of product you get is a lot less than a normal lipstick. So really in the grand scheme of things if you look at the ratio for the same weight of product they cost around the same amount as a MAC lipstick.

Monkey- I believe monkey is a shade they just released for spring and in the swatch online it doesn't look anywhere near as pale as it actually is. I would no way ever feel comfortable wearing this by its self, great for you if you can though. I am glad I got it though I have actually been mixing it with a lot of darker pinks and reds to create lighter shades. The formula of this one is Hyper Glossy, the other Hyper Glossy I got has a different texture to this one though. I find it is a little patchy to apply, but that doesn't bother me as I am only going to use with another colour. The fact it applies a little patchy and is super pale I don't think I would recommend it unless you are looking for a affordable lipstick to lighten other shades, because for that its great.

Westie- I am obsessed with colour, its a beautiful pinky nude. It is actually slightly darker in person than it looks in the photo. It kind of reminds me of a lighter version of my favorite lip liner Rimmel's Eastend Snob which is kind of a 'Kylie Jenner Lip' colour. Wesite is a matte formulation and surprisingly I would say it is the most creamy to apply out of the five. For an affordable matte lipstick it's great, its not drying and the colour is really pretty. This is the only matte I purchased but I will defiantly be trying more.

Fetch- This is by far my favorite of the bunch, in fact I am wearing this now as I type. The colour is a bold poppy pink without being overly bright or in your face, to me it almost looks like a stain. Fetch has satin finish that I would say is almost matte but just has a bit of sheen. I have worn this so much already, it doesn't dry your lips out and it wears for quite a few hours on the lips. I can see this will be a repurchase when I run out and I will be wearing it all summer long.

Go fish- I love the glossy finish on this one, it's a Hyper Glossy and very creamy. Its a beautiful pink/coral/red. I normally like to keep things matte when it comes to bold lips but I think with the glossy finish this looks a little more fresh. I love that it is a twist on a classic red.

Trixie- This is a satin formula, it's very creamy and applies to lips beautifully. It is a very similar colour to Go Fish but maybe a little more orange? I am still really glad I brought it, it a beautiful colour that I can see wearing on evenings out in the summer.

Have you tired any Lippie Stix or other Colourpop products, let me know in the comments.

Disappointing Products

So if you're wondering if I'm loosing my mind then you might be right, no actually I know I did a disappointing products in with my empties a few weeks ago but I thought today I would share with you some products that I keep in my collection but actually really should thrown away. I am a sentimental person, take for instance the bracelet I got for my sixteenth birthday a few months ago it got broken while it was being cleaned at Tiffanys. They told me it wasn't fixable but they would replace it, little old me had a break down that it wasn't going to be the original even though it was identical. I'm also a hoarder so letting go of things is tricky for me, yes even when I don't like them. So with that said let's begin, just a quick disclaimer the reason I don't like most of these products is personally they don't work for me, I know they work for a lot of other people.

Interview With Maria From Pink Chanel Suit

Hello everyone, you may of noticed recently I have been doing quite a few collaboration post with fellow bloggers, blogging is what I love so I love to share that with others. Today's post isn't so much of a collaboration, more of an interview. I came across Maria's blog, Pink Chanel Suit on Instagram (praise hands emoji) a few months back now and have been intrigued by it ever since. I usually read a lot about beauty and fashion on blogs and I love that Maria mainly just has lifestyle posts. Her writing is incredible and I find her words always suck me in if that makes any sense. For me writing is my real weak point when it comes to blogging so I love taking inspiration from her. Today's interview is going to be a bit of fun and a 'getting to know you' kind of thing. I must admit this post if mainly for me, I love learning little things about people but I am sure you guys will enjoy it equally. I read through her answers to each question with a genuine smile on my face; she has some really intuitive thoughts. All of Maria's blog details will be at the bottom of this post. Again I hope you enjoy.

Summer Beauty Wish List

The Sephora VIB sale is this week so naturally I am thinking about beauty shopping. Today I thought I would share with you what is on my wish list from Sephora for the up coming season of summer. When it comes to makeup for summer I light to keep things light and dewy with small pops of color on the lips of cheeks (yes my eyes always stay neutral).

#1 Hourglass Ambient Bronzer- I was never a fan of the powders but the blushes are beyond amazing and maybe even my favorite blushes. Most of my bronzers are matte or have only minimal shimmer so I am hoping these will be a highlighter bronzer combo.

Zoeva Brushes

You may have seen me mention a Zoeva brush in last months favorites and today I am going to be fully reviewing that brush and two others from Zoeva. So sometime last month I made a purchase from Zoeva and gulped at the expensive shipping. It took somewhere between 10 and 14 days for my package to arrive from Germany. I actually now regret not buying more than three brushes, never mind I guess I will just have to pay the shipping again.

Spring Fragrance- Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt

Spring, the time for fresh blooming flowers, cool breezes and light perfume scents.
I have now drifted away from my heavy autumn /winter scents and moving onto my fresher perfumes. When your like me and hate anything overly sweet or floral smelling it can be tricky to find a fragrance for spring/summer. That's where Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt comes in, its light, fresh, and smells like a cool spring day at the beach. The sage gives it depth while the salt makes it smell fresh and airy like the seaside. All of Jo Malone's perfumes and products in general have a feeling of complete luxury to them and they make great gifts; my mum actually really loves this scent so I got her the candle for her birthday. If you want something that is fresh, not to heavy but also very different then this is the perfume for you. I know I will be wearing this all spring and summer.
What is you favorite scent for spring? Love...

Spring Hair Trends- The Long Bob

All Photos Taken From Pinterest.
Hello everyone, I hope your April is going well so far. I have family in town right now so I am having a great time sight seeing, it's amazing that when you live in a place you actually don't see much of it. Anyway onto todays post. Today was supposed to be a super cool Emma Stone tutorial with one of my favorite bloggers Aymie Louise, but in the past few weeks a weird rash has come up all over my face so I am now trying to avoid using any makeup. So the tutorial will be up this time next month instead. Today myself and Aymie are going to talking about some trends that have been going around recently. Now you all know my love for beauty so I really did want to talk about a beauty trend but I feel like for this year everything is just very minimal and neutral so it may be a little boring. Instead we decided we would share with you our thoughts on a huge hair trend for this year and over on Aymies blog we are going to be sharing what we think of a recent fashion trend, so after you have read this head on over there. I will link to Aymie's blog below. Also if you didn't see our last collaboration of a beauty Q&A then I will link it HERE.
A quick note from Aymie- Hello again, gorgeous readers of Perfect Peonies! It's nice fantastic to be able to collaborate with Nicola again on something like this, we'll be doing a fashion collaboration over on my blog so if that sounds good to you I'd love it if you could check that out. I can't wait to get started on our Emma Stone beauty collaboration for next month, until then I hope you enjoy our most recent pieces
