It Cosmetics Brow Power

Let's just say I am rather well endowed in the brow department, it's a great thing now but back when I was in school and thin brows were all the rage I hated them. I still have a vivid memory of a boy I really liked teasing me about them and quite frankly it has scarred me for life. I don't know why I never picked up the tweezers and went to town on them (I think I didn't know where to begin) like pretty much everyone else but now I am so glad that I didn't. Bold brows are beautiful and I am now embracing them. Now saying all that my brows do still have their sparse areas and are not symmetrical in shape so I don't mind a little helping hand from a brown pencil now and again. Obviously for me I don't need anything heavy duty to fill so pomades and powders have always been out, I love a thin nibed pencil to get right in there and just draw actual brow hairs. I think using a pencil is the most natural method to filling your brows wether like me you naturally have a lot or you don't. If you are a frequent reader here you will already know how much I love It Cosmetics so naturally I had to try their Brow Power Super Skinny Brow Pencil. They come in seven shades and they really have thought about every shade from auburn to warm blonde and they are marketed to be universally flattering. In my usual high maintenance fashion I have two shades I like to use Medium Brown and Dark Brown for a bolder look. The nib is tiny, in fact it is said to be the width of an actual brow hair and you can precisely get the perfect fill and shape to your brows. I also love that it isn't too pigmented, so many brow pencils just offer to much and make your brows look false; this just adds the right amount pigment. The finish you get also lasts all day so you won't be loosing your brows half way through the morning. Really my point is love you natural features, don't let anyone put you down but it's also ok to enhance what you love. Love...

Zoeva Spectrum Palettes

Zoeva has released a range of spectrum palettes that I spoke about briefly HERE in a new release post and I have been really loving them, so today I thought I would share all about them in a dedicated post. So Zoeva have recently launched three eyeshadow and three blush palettes in their new Spectrum range. The eyeshadows palettes come in three tone ranges; Warm, Cool and Nude. I have the Warm and Nude shades and they are just beyond beautiful. Of course they have that wonderful Zoeva shadow pigmentation and feel so creamy and blend-able. I love the formula of Zoeva shadows, they are so pigmented and as good as any other higher end shadows. The Warm palette has 15 shades of warm goodness. I love wearing warm eyes and this palette is perfect for that. It has a mix of matte's and shimmers and that cranberry toned shimmer and matte warm orange have to be my favorites. The Nude palette is the most wearable of the three and perfect if you're a eyeshadow beginner or just fanatic like me. Again the formula is amazing and it has a mix of mattes and shimmers from golds, to bronzes, to crease colors, to even a matte black. The three blush palettes come in Nude, Pink and Coral shades with four varying blush shades in each. I have the Coral shades and the blushes in the palette are lovely. The lightest shade is my favorite currently but I can see I will be wearing this so much come summer. The formula is smooth and pigmented but not to pigmented which I love. They also vary in finish with some being matte and others having a more satin finish. It would be perfect for traveling as the palette is so compact and it gives you great choice. Overall I am blown over by this new release, for the price point and quality of the products I am so impressed. I think Zoeva are continually known for their amazing brushes (which I love also) but they have certainly stepped up their makeup game and I for one am excited.

My Current Favorite Lip Options

I love lipstick, lipgloss, lip pencils, anything to do with lip products really. I would say it is my most collected makeup item and I just can't get enough of all the different colors and finishes. I have really been having a moment with pink and nude tones lips recently so I thought I would share the lip options I have had on rotation for the past few months. Tom Ford First Time is a beautiful matte peachy nude that is perfect for this time of year. By February I am always kind of done with the berry shades but not quite ready to say it's spring yet so it is usually a time a lot of nudes get worn both in my makeup and clothing. The new shades in the Laura Mercier Lip Parfaits are just beautiful and Rive Gauche has become a favorite of mine, it is a pale-ish nude with a glossy but creamy finish that goes with every makeup look; it was actually the only lipstick I took to New York with me last week. Lune and Aster are pretty new to me as a brand but this lipgloss in Poet is such a pretty milky pink and has a lovely formula. It never feels sticky or heavy on the lips but still manages to hang around for a decent while. The Revlon Matte Balm in Seduction is a little berry esque but is still fresh look so doesn't scream fall. I love the formula of these as they are creamy but still matte and the price point is perfect. Another pinky nude shade I have been loving is Burberry Kissing Lipstick in English Rose, I have spoken about these 101 times but the are just so silky and creamy on the lips. A really great matte version of that color is the NYX Matte Lip Creme in Istanbul. I was always put off the YSL Rouge Volupte's as people moan about their longevity on the lips but I had heard a few bloggers talking about the shade 9 and knew I had to take the plunge. It is a dusky rose beige that is perfect for everyday wear and I love the creamy almost glossy formula; so much so I have just ordered a few more shades. Lastly we have my all time favorite brown, Very Victoria by Charlotte Tilbury. This has to be one of my most worn lipsticks and I think it is just so flattering on the lips, it is like a nude but with a little extra kick. I love the formula of the Matte Revolution Lipsticks and have a whole post on them HERE if you would like a read. Make sure you let me know what lip products you have been loving and if there're any YSL shade you would recommend. Love...

Makeup Forever's New Ultra HD Concealer

Makeup Forever's launches seem to be going from strength to strength and their new Ultra HD Concealers are no exception. With a thin texture and amazing coverage they sit on the skin beautifully, oh and not to mention the ton of shades they come in as well. They come in ten shades all together, a mix of correctors (R) and concealers (Y) and with the lightest shades being pale enough for skin even fairer than mine; yes you heard that right. I wear R20 in the corrector with it being very brightening indeed and then Y23 in the concealer as Y21 was just a little to pale but would be perfect if you are uber fair. Obviously with them being correctors and concealers they are designed for the under eye specifically but I think the Y shades could most certainly be worn on the face. They have a creamy but very thin consistency (not what I was expecting) and incredible coverage that doesn't seem to ever get cake-y no matter how much you build them up, concealer over corrector. They also have great ingredients to help loss of moisture and replenish, as well as to fill fine lines and de puff. Overall with the thin consistency, great staying power, lack of creasing (did I mention every concealer creases on me but these?) and of course that amazing coverage I would say they are certainly making their way into my everyday makeup routine. Love...

Nude Lips

So before we get into this post I have to quickly mention that I can no longer see this set on the Sephora website but I saw them in stores just yesterday so if you are interested make sure you go and check your local store. Ok so on to the post in question. I purchased the ever so raved about 'Give me Some Nude Lip' Sephora favorites set a few weeks back and if you can get your hands on it, it is a great value set. It contains five nude shades and two of the products are full sized, NARS Dolce Vita and Nudestix Pencil in Whisper. The set also include mini's of the Marc Jacobs lip liner in Prim(Rose), Laura Mercier Milky Way Lipstick and Tarte Tarteist Lip paint in Namaste. Dolce vita is a sheer rose nude shade that fells lovely and moiturizing on the lips. The Nudestix Pencil is for cheek and lips but personally I would only use it for lips as Whisper is a pale matte nude. The Marc Jacobs liner is a really pretty darker rose shade and one I am sure I will buy the full size of. Milky Way by Laura Mercier is my least favorite from the set as it's just a tad to brown for me but it certainly isn't unwearable. Lastly you have the mini Tarte Lip Paint in Namaste which is very Kylie Jenner esque. All of the shades are lovely and would suit most complexions, and the two full sized products really make the deal worth it in my opinion. For $28 the set is amazing value, so run, I mean RUN to your nearest Sephora now! Love...

Laura Mercier Paris After The Rain Collection

For spring Laura Mercier has released her Paris After The Rain Collection which includes a eyeshadow palette and new shades of the lovely Lip Parfaits. The palette has four metallic shades and four matching matte shades that are all really pigmented and creamy. It is a fairly neutral selection that is a little cool in tone so if you like that it would make a really great little palette, especially for travel as it's so dinky. The Lip Parfaits by Laura Mercier are my favorite! They are creamy and have a gloss like finish but still have great pigmentation and never feel heavy or sticky on the lips. There are two new shades in the collection, Rive Gauche; my favorite of the two, a really pretty pale nude with a little shimmer, and Rive Droite; a dusky rose (my lips but better) shade. I am a big fan of these lipsticks and I think they are totally underrated in the online beauty world, I own so many shades and would recommend them to everyone! The collection is compact but the three items are all very pretty and Parisian. Love...

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder

The latest addition to the Hourglass Ambient range is a rather special one. The new Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders come in four different shades in the now iconic Hourglass Ambient light reflecting formula. I am a big highlighter fan and an even bigger fan of the Ambient Lighting range from the powders to the blushes. I have the shade Incandescent here and it is a beautiful subtle highlight, the other three contain a variety of intensities and shades. Just like the rest of the range the powders are creamy and easy to blend and Incandescent has just a little shimmer running through that really catches the light. Because all of the powders are made with the same formula they blend perfectly together leaving a flawless finish. I like to set my makeup with Diffused Light and then go in with the shade of bronzer and blush I am feeling that day, finishing with the stunning strobe powder to get the perfect Hourglass glow. I am so excited to see where the range goes next but in the mean time it will always be a frontrunner in my collection. Love...

Tartelette In Bloom Palette

When Tarte released their second Tartlette palette I was very excited indeed. I always loved the look of the original but with it being purely matte I wasn't sure how versatile it would be to use without any other shadows, so when I saw that the new In Bloom palette was still mostly matte but had three shimmers I knew I was on to a winner. With beautiful gold, bronze, and taupe metallic shades there is something for every eye look. The matte shades also include highlighting whites, creamy lid shades, the perfect crease colors and everything from a pink toned nude to a dark brown. All of the shades are buttery and pigmented and it includes some of the most creamy matte shades I own. The palette is very neutral and perfect for the everyday wearer. I really couldn't recommend it anymore, if you're stuck between the original and this then the In Bloom would be my pick. Love...

La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation

This foundation by far has to be the most luxe makeup item I own. The price tag is so high it actually makes me squirm a little, so after putting it to the test for the past few months I thought it was time I shared a review with you and I've got to say price aside its a bloody good foundation. The reason I can justify the Skin Caviar Foundation being so expensive is all the amazing skincare ingredients included in the formula that help reduce wrinkles, hydrate and improve skin elasticity. It has a pretty full coverage finish but doesn't look heavy or cakey on the skin which I love. I also love that it has a natural dewy finish and not a matte one which is so hard to find in fuller coverage foundations. It feels like a real treat on the skin and almost more like a skincare treatment than a foundation. It has great lasting power on my skin and never slides around or becomes oily even with its dewy finish. If I want perfect skin then this is what I go for, especially if it's feel a little delicate and dry. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that it has a matching creamy concealer in the the lid, bonus! All in all it's rather marvelous, whether it's worth the $215 price; I think thats down to the buyer and what your looking for in a foundation. I certainly think so. Love...

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair

Advanced Night Repair from Estee Lauder has to be one of the most iconic lines when it comes to skincare. In fact the ANR line was the first skincare to include one of my favorite skincare ingredients, Hyaluronic Acid when it was created in 1982.  The original product in the line; the serum, has become one of the best selling serums throughout the world with nine bottles sold every minuet! Since then they have taken the line further adding a eye cream, eye serum and more recently a sheet mask with the same ever so popular formula. After hearing so much chatter online I decided it was time to try it for myself and I now know what all the fuss is about. I use the term 'fuss' lightly because really it deserves it all and more. The Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II maximizes your skins natural overnight renewal process and helps reduce wrinkles, hydrate, smooth, add radiance, look more refreshed and rested. There is a whole load of information about the line on the website if you want to read more on the technicalities and ingredients. I have also been testing out the Advanced Night Repair Eye and it has been a dream to use. It is infused with the same great renewal formula as the serum and is almost a little like a smoothing primer in consistency. It diminishes dark circles, hydrates, and of course helps plum those fine lines making it perfect if you're look for something anti aging. The line is iconic and loved by bloggers, editors, mum's, and grandmothers alike. There are so many new skincare items on the market everyday, but in my opinion you can't beet the tried and tested classics like ANR. What do you think of the line? Love...

New Tom Ford Quads

Tom Ford has always made enviable eyeshadow quads and for spring the line has released the stunning palettes in five new shade ranges. Here I have Honeymoon and Disco Dust and both are incredibly beautiful. Honeymoon is a collection of four nude and purple toned satin finished shades. As you can imagine the shadows are incredibly pigmented and blend out on the lid like a dream. I do wish there was a matte for the crease but I still think it makes a wonderful addition palette, especially if you like to collect makeup like me. The colors are right up my street and create the most perfect cranberry/plummy eye look. Disco Dust is pink toned with an incredible silver reflective glitter. It is quite girly as a palette but even using the two pink toned shades and the lovely plum in the outer v would make a great eye look. The valentines day look that went up on Monday has me wearing every shade in Disco Dust and you can see that HERE. I would say these are the most wearable shades out of the new five but the other three are a little more fun and colorful. So the question of price has to come in when you talk about these, for a mighty $80 you can own a beauty; but are they really worth it you ask? In my opinion yes, certainly not a necessity but they sure are rather lovely.  Love...

Kypris Skincare

The all natural american made skincare line Kypris has seemed to of gained a loyal following amongst beauty bloggers and lovers alike; after testing a couple of the items over the past few months I am certainly jumping on the bandwagon. What I love about the brand is that it is all 100% natural, organic, locally sourced, vegan, cruelty free, and sustainable. I have been trailing the Antioxidant Dew which is a serum and the Beauty Elixir III and oil moisturizer. The Antioxidant Dew is a feather light serum that delivers intense hydration. It strengthens the skin and adds radiance with sea algae, rose, and vitamins C and E. I love that it feels so light on the skin yet still like a big drink of water for it, it also is really nice for calming the skin and diminishing redness. All of the Beauty Elixirs are formulated with 100% active beauty oils, I have #III which is perfect for dry sensitive skin. With prickly pear seed oil it has high levels of vitamin E which helps to fight free radical damage and hydrate. What I also love about the Beauty Elixir III is that it is the only one without any essential oils making really perfect for sensitive or break out prone skin. It feels light and non greasy on the skin but still deeply hydrating and nourishing. From the two items I have tried I am really impressed with the line and can't wait to try more. I love the ethos behind the company and am loving seeing them flourish. Have you tried any Kypris skincare? Love...

A Valentines Day Makeup Look

So Valentines day isn't really the holiday for me but I thought I'd share a makeup look for the season nonetheless. You could go classic with a red lip, but personally I think there is nothing worse than kissing someone in red lipstick so I have decided to go a little sparkly on the eyes and neutral with a pretty pink lip. I want to begin with perfect skin so I am using the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, it feels like nothing on the skin but still lasts all day which is perfect. I am also going to set everything with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light to add a nice glow and make sure nothing budges or creases. I am then using the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow with the highlight heavily applied to the cheek bones and high points of the face and then lightly using the bronze side to contour. For the eyes I am using a new quad from Tom Ford in the shade Disco Dust using the pink shades and then tapping the beautiful silver reflective glitter top coat for a dazzling shade. Then I am adding a thin line of brown liner along the upper lash line, I am also going for big bold lashes using the Bareminerals Lash Domination Mascara. Lastly for the lips I am using my current favorite liquid lipstick from Laura Mercier in the shade Petal Pink. It is a pretty simple and very girly look but I really like how it turned out, let me know what you think. Also let me know you Valentine's day plans in the comments below. Love...

January Favorites 2016

It's that time again, the time to round up my favorites from the previous month and it's the first one of 2016 YAY! I am still trying to figure out if it's still appropriate to say 'Happy New Year' but I think February is the cut off. So with out further adieu let's get into it.

Jo Malone Orris & Sandalwood- I have fallen in love with the latest Jo Malone fragrance release, it is sweet but not overly so and is just totally different from what I usually go for. I have a full written review HERE in which I go more into detail, but basically it's dreamy.

NARS Sheer Glow- I have gotten back into this foundation big time over the past month or so, after not using it for maybe even years I decided it was time to pick up a new bottle and re-dabble in it. I ended up going to a different shade then before (I am now in Gobi instead of Deauville) and it is a perfect match for my winter skin. It adds a decent whack of coverage and some nice sheen to the skin, my only issue it the same as everyone else's; that darn packaging.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow- I was gifted this duo for Christmas and the highlighter alone is all the heart eyed emojis. The bronze shade is quite warm but somehow manages to chisel the cheek bones and add a bronze glow. The highlighter is a warm golden champagne that really is 'highlighter on fleek'. Yes, yes I did just say that.

Kypris Beauty Elixr III- I have been trying out Kypris skincare for the past few months and I am addicted to their Beauty Elixir III. With ingredients to help fight free radical damage and add a ton of hydration my skin has been loving this oil. I will be doing a full review on a couple of items from the line next week.

Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip- I have become obsessed with these liquid lip creme's recently, I have the shade petal pink here but it is showing a lot brighter than it actually is. I haven't really heard these ever talked about in the beauty community but I for one love them. They apply in a creamy liquid formula and set down to a satin non-drying matte finish, they still feel a little creamy and hydration on the lips which I love. They may not be the best for a long lasting bold lip but for nudes and subtle tones I think they're pretty perfect.

Christophe Robin Antioxidant Cleansing Milk and Conditioner- On days where my hair doesn't really need washing but I want to wash it for time or styling reasons this has been my shampoo and contionder go to. The milky shampoo lathers well to cleanse the hair really gently while the conditioner adds some nice hydration. Granted I wouldn't use this on my third day hair but if your a person who likes to wash your hair every other day or even everyday then this would be perfect.

Make sure you share your latest favorites with me below. Love...

A Hydration Booster?

When it comes to dry skin I like to think I know a thing or two after dealing with it pretty much my whole life. There is nothing more annoying to me than my dry flakey skin so any products that claims to add hydration, I'm in. The Dr Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Hydration Booster is a skincare product really like no other. It has the consistency of a thin, almost water like serum but it is designed to be added to your favorite skincare or makeup products and to be used on targeted dry areas under moisturizer. With ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate, Watermelon Extract to fight free radical damage and other with healing properties I knew that it was going to pretty darn good for my skin. I have mainly been using it by its self but it also mixes really well with other serums and even foundations. If my skin is feeling particularly dry and tight I love adding a few drops into any foundation which helps keep my skin feeling nourished throughout the day. I also love that it doesn't really leave any finish or residue on the skin so you can mix it with whatever and have no change in the end result other than added hydration. I am still in the early days of road testing this but I think I can safely say it really does create a contrast in the skin; just that little bit of added moisture really makes a difference to my skin. Love...

New In Beauty January 2016

There have been a ton of new releases this month so I thought why not share them with you all. I always love reading these types of posts to see what's new out there so as more releases come in I may do these every few months. I haven't fully tried and tested everything listed here but I will link to any reviews that are already up and it's more than likely everything here will be featured at some point or another.

NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint- This new base drop from NARS is rather lovely indeed. I have a full review on it HERE but in short it leaves a nice glow-y but matte finish to the skin without dehydrating it.

NARS Spring Collection- The spring collection that goes along with the new skin tint is also very nice, the eye shadow in Hammamet is stunning and so is the gloss I have here in Instant Crash.

Zoeva Spectrum Collection- Zoeva has just released three eyeshadow and three blush palettes all in beautiful shades. Here I have the Warm and Nude eyeshadow palettes and the Coral blush palette. I can already say I adore them and of course the eyeshadows have the wonderful Zoeva pigmentation. I am sure you will see a full review on these very soon.

Jo Malone Orris and Sandalwood- The latest Jo Malone fragrance release is a rather special one, you can read my full review HERE.

Laura Mercier Candle Glow Soft Luminous Foundation- The new foundation release from Laura Mercier is a beautiful one and it has fitted perfectly into my everyday makeup routine, which you can read about HERE. I also have a full review on the foundation HERE.

Laura Mercier Spring 2016- The Spring collection features a lovely eight shade shadow palette with some beautiful mattes and two new limited edition lip parfaits in a MLBB Berry and Nude shade.

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder- The latest addition to Hourglasses Ambient range is a set of four highlighting powders that all offer different types of strobing options. I have incandescent and it offers a subtle but very glow-y highlight.

Pur HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation- Pur have just released a very liquid-y foundation aimed at dryer skin types and I think it could be right up my street. The only bummer is that even their lightest shade is too dark for me right now so it will have to wait until summer.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Paints and Crayons- Tarte's liquid lipstick release is a little different in the fact it's not so drying like other offerings which is a good thing in my book. The lip crayons are a little dry in consistency which means they are really only good for lining the lips not filling in, but they do come in a ton of shades.

Love...

Sweets For My Sweet

Deborah Lippmann has just released her latest set for spring and it is full of pastel goodness. The Sweets For My Sweet set contains six beautiful pastel shades that are oh so appropriate for spring. Nothing says spring to me quite like some pastel shades and I must say one of my favorite things about the season is the beautiful colors I adorn my nails in. This set has everything form a soft peach to a delicate lilac. My personal favorite has to be My Boy Lollypop which is a soft baby blue, it really reminds me of that Cinderella blue color and although not the most wearable color it certainly is beautiful. Sugar Sugar is a pale peach nude that is almost white looking on the nails, but it has some warmth to it making it a little more wearable than a white. Lemon Drop as you may have guessed is a lovely pale yellow that is very sweet indeed. Sweet Pea is a mint of sorts but more on the green side rather than blue. All Day Sucker is the lilac in the set and looks especially girly along with Candy Girl the very pale cool toned pink. What I love about these is that I was expecting them to be a little on the sheer side or hard to build up but all of the shades have become opaque in just two coats, and of course like all Deborah Lippmann nail polishes they have wonderful lasting power. If you are a pastel fan like me then this set is a great investment and for only $34 it isn't too hard on your wallet. Granted it's girly and fabulous, I mean look at that packaging but I for one am going crazy for it. Love...

Guerlain Spring 2016

Whenever Guerlain release a new collection each season I always get a little giddy from the sheer beauty of it, and this years spring collection is no exception. Consisting of a new Meteorites Primer as well as a beautifully compacted powder and blush, it is certainly swoon worthy. The Meteorites Base is described as a mythical skin perfecting base and quite rightly so, it really does do something magical to the skin. Rosy peals are suspended in a gel like serum that when pumped out tuns into a creamy gel that smooths over the skin wonderfully. It enhances the complexion with a delightful glow but still controls any excess oils and gives the skin a lovely plumped look. The corresponding Meteorites Voyage pressed powder in the beautiful compact is probably my favorite item in the collection. The pressed pearls corrects and illuminates the complexion while adding a satin long lasting finish to the skin. Oh and we can not 'not' mention that stunning compact, and it is in fact refillable so I am sure it will be one of those items I hand down to my grandchildren. The Rose Aux Blush is a very fun red pink and paler pink duo in lovely red packaging. Both shades have a little shimmer running through them making them perfect for spring. The little odd ball in the collection has to be the Ecrin 1 Couleur a limited edition buttercup yellow eyeshadow, don't get me wrong it's a pretty shade but I am not sure it would be something most people would go out and buy. If you love collecting makeup and special items then this is a lovely item especially as it comes in beautiful rose gold packaging but I am not sure it's for the everyday makeup wearer. The eyeshadow itself is very soft and buttery with great pigmentation. Lastly they have the Long Lasting Eye Pencils which are both creamy and blend-able as well as indeed long lasting. They don't work so well in the water line but on the upper lash line they create a really easy winged eyeliner look. I have the black and khaki shade which really makes my hazel eyes pop. Like all collections it has its hits and misses but as a whole it's darn beautiful. Love...
