A New Dressing Table

The past couple of weeks I have been on a total re decorating frenzy, so just saying in advance that there maybe a few furniture-y posts coming up. (I know that furniture-y is so not a word but I couldn't think of a better one.)
Today I thought I would share with you my new vanity table in my room. I have never had a dressing table in my room before and until now I have always had a dresser in my office where I do my makeup ect. Then I realized instead of working I was applying makeup...oooppppsssss. So off I went to Ikea to pick up some sort of desk thing for my room. I ended settling on the Malm Dressing Table, it has a large drawer underneath that I store my everyday makeup in and a glass top. It is a little to sleek looking for my room so I am going to add some glass knobs to the drawer to give it slightly more of a vintage feel. Hanging above it I have a large white mirror I got from Home Goods for only $25 what a bargain! I then took some fairy lights from Ikea and put them around it to make it look a little bit pretty. The jewelry box on the table it also from Home Goods and I love it! It is a bronze mirror box that has a post card print on the front written in Italian and it totally looks antique. I then just keep my makeup brushes in one corner and some fresh flowers by my bed. I really love how it has turned out and am excited to share with you soon what I have done with my office!

The Greatest Bronzer?

Nars Laguna has always had the title of being the best bronzer out there but is it really true? Don't get me wrong I like it, well really it is one of the best bronzer I have tried but I just feel like there could be a better bronzer. I would love to know what you guys think? Have you tried it and love it or do you know of a better alternative?

Reasons I love it-
It is a great color for my pale skin
The pigmentation isn't too much that you can not blend it out
The color isn't to muddy or orange
I love that it is almost matte but has a tiny bit of shimmer

Reasons I feel like there might be something better-
I feel like I don't wear bronzer that often but I go through it really quickly
You have to use quite a lot to have an all over bronze look
It just doesn't WOW me
The packaging, like all nars products the packaging looks pretty and sleek until you touch it and then fingerprints are every where. It's like a crime scene investigators dream!

Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint

I received Jouer's Moisture Tint as a birthday present last month. I was so excited as I had wanted to try it for ages but Jouer is not the easiest brand to find in stores, luckily Nordstrom now carry the line.

What Jouer have to say about it-
This lightweight moisturizing tint evens out imperfections and fades the appearance of fine lines with its light-diffusing multi-mineral formula. SPF 20 protects from UVA and UVB rays while Ginseng and Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract deliver antioxidants to skin, promoting a healthy complexion. Light to Medium coverage. Oil Free. Hypoallergenic. Noncomedogenic. Fragrance Free. Perfect for all skin types.

I wear the shade Pearl, this time of year it is a little dark for me so I have to mix it with a lighter foundation. The shade range is pretty good for it being a tinted moisturizer, 7 in total. The shades also range from pink tones to yellow. Just bare in mind if you are paler than me and warm toned the lightest shade will be to dark. I love the finish of this, when I first swatched it, it looked like there was a ton of glitter in the product but once it is on the face it really diffuses and looks beautiful and dewy. For a tinted moisturizer it has amazing coverage, I would say similar to a medium foundation. The texture is creamy but not to heavy and it blends beautifully. I either apply it with my fingers for a light coverage or for more coverage I blend it with the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush. Also for a tinted moisturizer it has pretty good staying power.
Overall I really love this stuff, it may be one of the best bases I have ever tried and I love that it looks natural for every day. The only thing I would disagree with is that is suitable for all skin types, if you have anything under oily skin you will be fine but if you are oily I would stay away just because the dewiness may be to much.

My Top 5 M.A.C Eyeshadows

I am relatively new to M.A.C eyeshadows, I had never really needed them so had never got any. Last year I decided having a custom palette would be quite nice so took the plunge and purchased a few shadows. Today im going to share with you what my top 5 are. I am sure there will be more I love as I keep collecting them.

Now of course they are all very neutral, the most colorful my eyeshadows get is when they have a hint of red or purple.

The top left corner- Swiss Chocolate: A matte finish, it is a beautiful medium to dark brown with warm undertones. It almost has a little hint of red. Has very good color pay off for a matte shade.

Top middle - Wedge: A matte finish, this is a very natural medium brown it has a neutral undertone and is great as an every day lid color. The color pay of is a little sheer but it can be built up nicely.

Top right corner- Vanilla: A velvet finish, this highlight shade is almost matte but it has a tiny amount of shimmer. The color is great as an every day highlight and the color pay off is good.

Bottom left corner- Sable: A frost finish, this shadow is my most favorite it is a beautiful brown shimmer with a hint of redness to it. I love wearing this by its self all over the lid. The color pay off is very pigmented.

Bottom right corner- Haux: A satin finish, this shade is a cross between a brown and a purple. It is a great way to wear purple naturally, the satin finish is almost matte but again it is just a little shimmery. The color pay off is very nice.

Next week I will show you these shade in action!

Makeup Organization Tips

Organizing to me is one of the best things ever, what can I say I got it from my mother. Your makeup collection can really benefit from a bit of organization, who knows you might find hidden treasure stashed in the bottom of your make up bag. Today im going to share with you some top tips of organizing.

Makeup Bags- Great if you only have a little makeup or you need to take make up on the go with you, also handy when traveling. There are lots of types but if your using it as an every day solution I would suggest one that has different compartments just so things do not get to jumbled. I only use a makeup bag when I travel so I personally love the pretty ones that Ted Baker makes.
Brush Holders- I have tutorial on how to make these pretty brush holders here, It's a great way to keep your brushes clean, all in one place and the jars look pretty on a vanity or shelf.

Acrylic Makeup Holders- If you want to display your makeup on your vanity this is the way to do it. If you have a little then it can all sit in one small holder or if your a collector like me you every day stash can be kept there. You can get these online from places like Muji or from stores like TJ Maxx or Marshals for between $3 and $15 a piece.

Shelves or Drawers- If your a big time collector like me then you may want something a little bigger. I know every one loves the 9 drawer Alex from Ikea but I needed a mirror to, two bird one stone? This cabinet is also from Ikea, it is made for the bathroom but I really like it in my bedroom. The shelves on the outside is a great way to display things too. A great way to organizing inside is by category.

I hope you enjoyed and got some inspiration!

Clarisonic: A Year In

So after mentioning it in my 2014 favorites my Clarisonic Mia 2 I realized I had been using it for almost a year so I thought I would tell you all how I feel about it.

I purchased my Mia 2 back in the beginning of January 2014, I believe it was on special offer at the time in Ulta for $125 which is a pretty good price. You can get them in a variety of colors for either Ulta or Sephora for $149.99. Mine is in a limited edition color Sunset Paradise.

Why the Mia 2? I chose the Mia 2 purely because at the time it was only $15 more than the original Mia and the Mia had sold out of all the pretty colors (white really wasn't doing it for me). One advantage the Mia 2 does have is two power settings, I use the lower one which I believe is the extra but don't hold me to that. Clarisonic has a range of different cleansing tools and sadly I do not have to much knowledge about them so I am just going to let you know what I think of mine.

In the year that I have had it I have only have tried two different types of brush heads, The Deep Pore and The Sensitive, I like both but I think The Deep Pore gives me a slightly better clean. I really want to try The Cashmere one as it meant to be good for dry skin. I only use it once in the morning mainly because I like to use an oil or balm cleanser in the evening but also using it twice a day it feels a little harsh.

Reasons I love it:
Brightens skin
Kept my dry skin at bay
Reduced redness
Never had my skin feel so clean

Reason I don't love so much:
The financial upkeep, you have to replace the brush heads every three month ad the price of a new brush head just went up to $27 although you can by a multi pack of four for around $75
The spotty stage, when you first use it you can break out due to all the bacteria coming from your pores ewww. This will stop after a couple of days just be sure never to not use it for more than a week otherwise you will go through that all over again.

So that all in all I would say I love it, it has completely changed my skin for the better.

2014 Favorites

Happy New Year to you all! It's that time of the year again to round up my favorite of the year we just said goodbye to. This year I feel like I have discovered a lot in the world of beauty and especially my makeup collection has grown massively. I probably could have made this list about 50 items long but I don't want to put you all to sleep so we are just going to go through the very best. Also just as a plus note I can not wait to share my January favorites with you as I have already have found some amazing items. (Yep really in just 2 days!)

Origins Gin-Zing Moisturizer- I have only used this moisturizer for the past couple of months but I really love it. It has a really light jelly like texture so it is great for use before makeup and it adds a great long lasting glow.

Beauty Blender- Before this year I had never really seen the point in this cult sponge but now after trying it im in love. If I have the little bit of extra time to do my make I will use this and it makes my foundation and concealer look airbrushed.

Clarisonic Mia 2- I started using a Clarisonic back in January I can defiantly say my skin has improved this year and its down to this guy. I can only use mine once a day as I find it can be a little harsh on my skin but it still gives a wonderful deep clean and my skin feels soft and refreshed. I use the sensitive brush head but really want to try the new cashmere brushes.

Josie Maran Argan Oil- I have written a post about this so I wont go on to long but I just love the stuff, hydrating hair, nails and skin.

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat- I hate some of the things in this top coat but its just to amazing at chip prevention and quick drying to not love it.

O.P.I Bubble Bath- I have been obsessed with this color all year long the perfect sheer nude/pink.

St Tropez Tanning Mousse- I needed a little skin ick me up this summer and this fake tan just looks so natural and is so easy to apply. Who new fake tanning could be addictive.

Lush A French Kiss Bubble Bar- I love love this, it is by far my favorite thing from lush. It just makes bath time the best and most relaxing time.

Jcrew Necklace- I got this necklace in the sale in the spring and have worn it constantly, its very unusual I think and I love the mix of navy and coral so it can be worn with pretty much everything. It is also really great quality and the favorite of my statement necklaces.

Kate Spade Silver Bow Bangle- I got this recently and have been wearing it pretty much 24/7, its so pretty and simple.

Vivianna Does Makeup- Im sure you have all heard of this very beautiful amazing blogger/youtuber. This year I have been obsessed with her blog. I love reading all her fitness tips and I also love her obsession with Nars matte lip pencils, she defiantly hooked me on them. (See her blog here)
