Mix It Up Monday- Books For Fashion Lovers

Welcome to the second edition of Mix It Up Monday everyone! Today I am going to be sharing with you a book that is really helpful if your looking to get into the a fashion career or if you just love the fashion and beauty world. I was given the teen vogue handbook a few years ago as a present and I found it sitting on my shelf the other day and started reading through. It has loads of great tips for starting a career in the fashion industry and has different sections on many careers from photography to editorial to beauty. You can see from the photos that the book is bright and interesting with lot's of photographs. It is actually really interesting to read all of the sections, even the careers I am personally not interested in. It's packed with great advice from top people in the industry like Marc Jacobs and Bruce Weber. So if you looking for a book that is fun to read, full of pictures, and fashion then this is for you. You can buy it HERE on Amazon.

My Top 5 Hair Products

So until recently I have never really been hugely into 'hair care' and using products. But ever since I started having highlights around six months ago I have been taking much better care of my hair. So today I thought I would share with you my current top five that I'm loving. Ok so I should start off by saying that my hair has a normal to thick thickness, it has a curl/wave to it when it dry's naturally and has the tendency to go very fluffy and frizzy. To combat this it is either normally tied up, curled or straightened, or sometimes blow dried. So as you can imagine there is a lot of heat involved in keeping it under rule.

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation

Charlotte Tilbury has a seriously dreamy makeup collection and today I am going to be reviewing her Light Wonder Foundation. First of all I think I just need to say how amazing the customer service is at Charlotte Tilbury. You currently can not buy Charlotte Tilbury in stores here in the US, it is only online so it can be a little tricky when it comes to deciding your shade. I contacted Charlotte Tilbury online and they sent me three shade samples to try for free. The samples arrived within days of me requesting them and they came with a very sweet handwritten note. You can request samples from either Charlotte Tilbury's website or from Beauylish.. I ended up being shade 2 and ordered mine from Beautylish as I also wanted some Kevyn Aucoin bits. Ok so onto the review.

My Top 5 Products For Spring

I am so excited about todays post, first of all today is the first day of spring so this is very appropriate and second of all this post is in collaboration with the beautiful Serein Wu. I have been reading Serein's blog for ages and have also watched many of her vlogs so I kind of I feel like I know her, so when she said she would do this collaboration with me I was over the moon. She has a great youtube channel that I will link at the bottom of this post along with her blog. So today me and Serein are going to share with you our top 5 products for spring. Spring is the time to bring out the dewy foundations, the floral smelling products, and everything pink. So let's get started with my top 5.

Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder- This is meant to be a volumizing powder and dry shampoo in one, personally I love it just for adding some body to my roots. It adds some great lift to you hair and gets rid of grease ewwwww. The reason this is great for spring you ask? Well the smell seriously reminds me of freshly bloomed tulips. Its just so fresh and floral.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette- This palette is the stuff of dreams! It is just so beautiful and the product its self is amazing. I especially love the middle shade Incandescent Electra (which is exclusive to the palette) for spring, it is a mix of a pinky highlight and a coral blush.

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in 15 Sensible- I featured this in my favorite spring lip products, the shade is a beautiful pinky-nude that has something a bit coral-y about it. The formula of these is really nice, they have a gel like texture that stays put on your lips without being overly sticky.

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation- This foundation is just perfection for me, and spring is the time to break out your dewy bases. It has a medium coverage and some serious glow with out looking shiny or oily. It also has some great skin benefits to keep my skin hydrated in the changing spring weather. I will be writing up a full review next week.

Super Facialist Glow Boost Serum- I have always loved this Una Brenna Vitamin C serum but in the past few months I have been skipping it and using a more hydrating option. Now the weather has started to warm up I have switched back to it, I can really tell the difference in my skins natural glow and now I wake up and my skin looks instantly awake. I wrote a full review on it HERE.

Thank you so much for reading, what are you favorite products for spring?

Nuxe Reve de Meil Lip Balm Review

Ahh the French, they have some wonderful things, macaroons, Chanel, lavender and this lip balm is no exception. I have heard about this balm for ages and have really wanted to try it, the only thing is it cant be a little tricky to find NUXE in the US. Then when doing some browsing in the magical land that is Target I came across a whole section full of NUXE products! I immediately threw the balm in my basket and then continued browsing their other products. A great thing to mention also is that Target carries quite a few brands that can be difficult to find else where. Anyway onto the review. The Lip Balm defiantly lived up to my expectations, first of all it smells amazing; like oranges but also honey, hmmm its just delicious. It has a really thick texture so it is great for use at night, I can apply it when I go to bed and it will still be on come morning. Since I have been using this every night my lips have been completely dry patch free. I have dry everything including my lips so I need a balm that is really going to hydrate. I can now wear matte lipsticks to my hears content. The packaging is beautiful, the glass heavy jar makes it feel very luxurious. Now it is a little pricey coming in at $20 but you get a lot of product and it will last you a long time. Next time your in Target you defiantly need to pick this up. Love...

Dealing With Anxiety

I have had issues with anxiety pretty much all of my life and as I am typing this I'm not even sure I will post it. It has always been something that I have not been ashamed of but I have never really wanted to share it either. But saying all of that I thought maybe by discussing it would help someone, and if I can help even just one person it would be totally worth putting my self out there for.

So let's start with me telling you how it all began. I first realized I have a problem with anxiety around four years ago, when I look back now I realize that actually most of my life I naturally have been an over anxious person. My anxiety really came to a head when I was injured in school four
years ago. I tore two tendons and a ligament in my left foot, after it hadn't healed 6 months later I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition. Basically I was told I would be in pain for the rest of my life, I could learn how to manage it but it would always be there. Luckily I am a lot better now and with a lot of healing therapy my foot now only bothers me occasionally. But anyway back to the anxiety thing, because of the injury I ended up being off school on and off for almost two years. When it came to going back to school I started having major panic attacks about it, I'm pretty sure that came on from being out of it so much. At the time we had decided to move to DC so I dropped out of school anyway. I thought maybe with a fresh start I would be ok, I was wrong and something people need to realize is that if you have anxiety is that it will always be there, every one has it to a certain degree it's how you manage it that maters. Over time I have learnt a few strategies to keep my self calm when I get anxious and I now haven't had a panic attack since we moved. The strategy that helps me the most I would say is when I get panicked to really focus on my breathing, when you begin to panic you breathing becomes short and you breathe from the chest. Notice how you feel and try to relax, start breathing from the pit of you stomach. Another thing that can happen when you panic is that you don't let enough carbon dioxide out when you breathe, your breathing becomes shallow and then you begin to fell sick and lightheaded. To combat this you can regulate you breathing by breathing into a bag or if you can't do that or are in public and don't want to try taking shallow breaths in and letting a long breath out, keep doing this until you feel calmer. Distraction is always a great way to calm down also if your with someone try and have a chat, that always helps me. If not playing a game on you phone, listening to music anything that will distract you. I have been know to read every single word in a magazine to distract myself. Some other techniques I have been told is exercise, I exercise on a regular basis and I'm not really sure if it helps but it is a good stress reliever. There are also methods like pressure point tapping and jumping up and down I personally have never tried them but it's worth giving them a go if you find nothing else works. The most important thing to remember it not to be embarrassed and to seek help if you need it whether that is from a friend, relative or health professional. The things I get anxious over tend to be things that yes are scary but things that I really want to do, I can spend 24 hours before hand feeling horrible with anxiety but once I have done it I feel great, you just need to learn to push through it and in the end you can conquer your Anxiety. I really hope this has helped someone not just deal with their anxiety but know they are not alone. If you want to ask me any question don't hesitate to email me at nicola.darita1@gmail.com

My Favorite Lip Products For Spring

It finally feels like spring is coming! Today the weather is in the 60's and I am feeling good, so what better time to share with you my favorite lip products are for spring. There is a constant theme here and that is pink, spring just makes me think of pink it is the perfect time to wear all of your pastel and baby colors. Another thing I like during spring is more of a balmy or glossy texture rather than a matte (although saying that there is one matte lip crème in this bunch) product, I just feel like it looks a little more fresh for the season. Anyway lets get started.

Empties and Dissapointing Products

Hello my lovely friends! Today I am going to share with you my trash, no really I am. I will be showing you what I have used up and love but also stuff that I really do not like and have just chucked out.

Mascaras- I actually have 4 in my little empties bag here, they are all actually empty and I used them all up (always a good sign). Rimmel London Scandal Eyes mascara in extreme black, I did like this and used it all up but I don't think I would repurchase it again just because I think there are better drugstore mascaras. L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara, I really love this mascara. It is totally my favorite from the drugstore, I have already repurchased and always will. Collection Super Size mascara, this was ok but not amazing I probably wouldn't repurchase it. The Lancôme Hypnoses Star is my all time favorite mascara, it just gives great length and volume and I will always have a bottle in my collection. This one I used up was a travel sized mini.

The Only Two Eye Brushes You Will Ever Need

Ever since I purchased my MAC 217 I have been obsessed with it! I mean so obsessed i'm literally like a child clinging on to their favorite toy. The 217 is just like no other brush I have tried before it can give you good color into the crease and also have it look all blended at the same time all in one sweep. Ok breeeaaaaaathe. I say it is like no other I have tried before but today I placed an order with Zoeva and purchased the 227 which is meant to be a dupe for the 217 so I will let you know if it lives up. After loving the 217 for only like 5 minutes I decided I needed to try some more eye brushes by MAC, so I went a did some google-ing. I went straight to temptalia's reviews and saw she loved the MAC 239, she even went as far as to say if she had to live with just one eye brush this would be it. So naturally I purchased it immediately along with a few shadows but more on that another day. Well I have to say it is an amazing brush the flatness to it makes it great for packing on color but the slightly fluffy end makes sure you have no harsh lines. Another plus is that it works great with creams and powders. Living with two eye brushes is something that I never thought was possible, but boy is it. Pack your lid color on with the 239, blend your crease color with the 217, go under the eye with the tip of the 239, highlight the brow bone with the 217 and then dust off any excess color and blend every thing out.
I told you could do it all with these two beauties! Love...

Oscars Inspired Makeup- Margot Robbie

Oscars night last Sunday brought out some beautiful gowns and makeup but I absolutely loved Margot Robbie's look. Her Saint Lauren gown was simple but elegant and her bold lip was beautiful. When it came to me recreating this look it was trickier than I thought it would be, in some lights her lipstick looked very orange and in others it look like a bold true red. So that being said a few alterations have been made here and there.

So I began by priming my skin with Stila's one step correct, I then buffed Rimmel London's match perfection foundation in with the Bobbi Brown full coverage face brush. I concealed my under eyes with Laura Mercier's dark circle concealer. I felt like she didn't have to much going on with the face, so I just added a little powder and some Nars Laguna bronzer.

I then moved on to the eyes where I used L'Oreal's pressed pigment in amber rush all over my lid and under the bottom lash line quite heavily. On my lid I focused it mainly towards my lash line. Margot had a little liner on I think so I lined a thin line on my upper lash line with the Kat Von D tattoo liner, but it would also work great if you just pressed a little black gel liner in to the lash line instead. I then applied lot's of the Maybelline lash sensational mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
To finish off the look I used Maybelline colorsensational vibrant mandarin lipstick, it has a satin finish so I set it with a little makeup forever translucent powder to matte it down. I was a little unsure about the lip as I said but I have now found out she was wearing Hourglasses opaque rouge liquid lipstick in Raven which is a very similar orange red color to vibrant mandarin.  Love...
